H e l l o!

Up on the blog today we have a guest blogger, Brian Jeffries, discussing the small interior design projects that make a big impact in your home.

Updating your property is an important step as a homeowner: but, if you can't afford to do large projects, you may be at a loss for what you can do. Small updates allow you to make tiny investments with less work that adds up into an incredible culmination of a fully updated feeling at home.

These are some smaller-scale interior design projects that can change how you and your guests feel in your home.

Adding Fun Details to Your Cabinets

Cabinets are arguably one of the most important design elements of the kitchen. Cabinets offer storage and design at the same time, so why not dress them up? Making small changes, like adding molding to cabinets or replacing the hardware with something new and fun, can make your kitchen look brand new. You could make an even larger impact if you paint or stain your cabinets, but, these small changes save you some time and still have the ability to change the look and feel of the kitchen.

Changing Out Your Light Fixtures

If you are still living the same bronze light fixtures that have been in your home since the day it was built, the ones you really hate, it is time for an update.  Updating your lighting fixtures gives you a chance to change the entire vibe of the kitchen.  In 2022 we’re seeing a lot of black light fixtures come into popularity. Black fixtures a streamlined, masculine, and purposeful look that works well with any color or interior design style they are paired with.

Sealing Concrete Flooring

Your concrete floor needs to be sealed, or it is at risk of large cracks and collecting grime, discoloration, and stains. Instead of allowing this to happen to your floors: take the time to seal them properly. Using the best water-based polyurethane you can find, seal your concrete floors and give them a polished look without having to tile over your floors or risk ruining them.  While conducting your research, look for products that are environmentally friendly and non-toxic.

Replacing Out-of-Date Faucets

A quick swap out of your existing faucets is an easy project to tackle.  Upgrade to a touchless kitchen faucet for a modern tech look.  In addition, swapping out existing bath faucets to more stylish versions can make the space feel fresh and brand new. While you are at it, go ahead and replace the shower head for a complete look. Water is one of the most important parts of daily life, so updating how you access it is a great way to ensure your home is fun to interact with and feels fresh and new to visitors.

Making Your Shower Floor Inviting Despite the Cold

The worst thing about getting up in the morning is getting out of bed and immediately feeling the chill of the floor. The solution, radiant heating for your floors! A heated shower floor can also make the morning a much more peaceful situation.  This is also a fantastic way to fight moisture in your bathroom since the heat dries the space faster and keeps it out of your flooring. Updating your Windows and Doors

Windows and doors are one of the largest culprits of higher energy bills. Carry a lit flame near your windows and doors to see where air is getting in or escaping. You can either seal these by adding weather stripping to the door or by completing a window sash replacement on any leaking windows.  If the windows and doors are past their prime, invest in replacing them all together.  Over time, your lower heating and cooling bills will ensure that the windows pay for themselves! This is also be a huge perk for future buyers since many are looking for energy-efficient properties.

Changing the Faceplates and Outlets Throughout

This is a deceptively easy job that anyone can do with a small amount of time and money investment. Go for a stylish updated look, like a matte black finish or something that coordinates with your home's interior design style. Although this is a small change, it can make your entire home feel more purposeful.
