Adorable Airbnbs Stateside

There’s something so dreamy about the idea of traveling the world that makes us all want to put life on hold for a bit and escape reality. By jetting off to someplace you’ve never been before, you open yourself up to the unknown, where an endless amount of possibilities await your arrival — and that in itself is extremely tempting.  However, it's likely that our dreams of exotic travel, at least for the next year, are going to have to wait.  So, I've gathered a few places with amazing interior design sensibilities that you will love, here in the U.S.  If you constantly develop a passionate itch to travel, and cannot fathom the thought of remaining in one place for too long, this gem’s for you.

Ever since Airbnb came on in the scene, traveling like a local has become easy and accessible wherever you are in the world. From apartments to cottages to full castles, Airbnb offers travelers the chance to intimately explore destinations around the world. But some rentals go above and beyond just offering a spot to sleep. Some embrace the truly unique and offer experiences you can't have at any old hotel or resort. Whether you like living among the treetops or burrowing underground, here are a few of the most unique Airbnbs I've found in the U.S.

Love Nest - Morongo Valley, California

via Airbnb.com

If you've ever wanted to spend the night in a barn, then this one's for you. This farm homestay in Morongo Valley offers a taste of the wild west, complete with an old saloon and plenty of friendly farm animals. You'll get a private room and bathroom in the barn where you can rest after a full day of adventures. Swing on the adult swing, take a jeep tour of the property, hop on hiking trails straight from the front door and indulge in a massage or facial. This property certainly lives up to its name!

Silo Studio Cottage - Tyringham, Massachusetts

via Airbnb.com

Countryside quaint gets a new twist in this one-bedroom cottage set in a cylindrical building. Located in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. Enjoy a fairytale weekend complete with nature walks through forests, gardens and past bubbling brooks.

Off the Grid and Forty Feet Up - Tiller, Oregon

via Airbnb.com

If you're afraid of heights, you might want to skip this one. This off-the-grid guesthouse stands 40 feet in the air atop a meadow with sweeping views of Umpqua National Forest. Modeled after the lookout towers used by the US Forest Service, this home is perfect for anyone who wants to get away from it all and find the ultimate peace. Note: this is one of the most wished for properties on Airbnb, so they book out far in advance. If you're interested, read their policies and tips for booking carefully.

The Majestic Treehouse - Walhalla, South Carolina

Feel like a kid again in this enchanting treehouse outside Charleston. The luxury treehouse includes all the amenities you'll need to enjoy a private weekend away. Set on 40 acres of secluded, untouched forest, you can get out on the hiking trails or stay in with a cup of locally-roasted coffee and a good book.

Wherever your travels may take you, may your journey and the memories made along the way be nothing short of irreplaceable.  I hope you enjoyed this post and appreciated the interior design of these Airbnbs.  “So much of who we are is where we have been.” — William Langewiesche
